Dominic Nahr was born in 1983 in Switzerland and raised in Hong Kong where he established himself as a photojournalist. There, he worked for the South China Morning Post as a staff photographer before going to East Timor for the Agence France-Presse (AFP). In 2005 he was accepted into the Eddie Adams Workshop in New York, in which he won the Getty Images Assignment Award in recognition of his work.

In 2007, while still attending university in Toronto, Dominic became a freelance photographer, being commissioned by magazines such as Newsweek, GQ Magazine, The Fader, The Globe and Mail, among others. His photographs also appeared in TIME, The Sunday Times Magazine and the British Journal of Photography, as well as in Photo District News' Photo Annual and Magenta's Flash Forward book in 2007 and 2008. Dominic graduated from Ryerson University in June 2008.

Recently he has been awarded an Award of Excellence in Photographer of the Year International in 2008. Dominic became a member of Oeil Public in September 2008.
